Have you ever had the urge to do something to change the world?

These thoughts cross my mind almost daily. But sometimes when we hear about so many global issues on the news, it can be difficult to believe that just one person can really make a difference.

Making the world a better place often means bettering it for a few people at a time. We all have the power to make a difference whether that means doing something for your family or for your community.

I try to focus on small ideas that can have a big impact at work, in my board/non-profit work and especially when it has to do with the lives of my family and friends.

Thought Leader Life‬ Interview with Lori Ruff, ALPFA Chief Brand Officer & Mitchell Levy of THiNKaha

Honored and excited to share my ‪#‎ThoughtLeaderLife‬ interview with Lori Ruff and Mitchell Levy/THiNKaha.

As a young Latina growing up in America the last thing I was – was confident. My parents had to go through so much to get by that I’ve never been one to give up easy. After being the “new girl” in 3 different High Schools across the country – I always had to make the best of every situation/new location. I learned a lot from my failures along the way and always tried to bounce back stronger. Always pushing myself to be better and to try not to make the same mistakes.

What I shared in the interview was truly from the heart and in hopes of inspiring others! Anyone can talk about how great they are as a leader and how much they’ve accomplished but it takes heart to talk about your struggles and where you came from!

It is an awesome feeling to be honest and true to who you are and selfless in sharing your story with others. I’m truly empowered by the great people I’ve been blessed to work with throughout the years. Also happy to have met many of them via ALPFA.

Thankful for the amazing mentors I had growing up: Tony Rucker (8th grade) & Eddie Lopez (Middle School/HS). Mentors are such an important part of a young persons life. If you ever have the opportunity to mentor someone or lend a hand – please do it!

Sharing your story is one thing but empowering others to believe in themselves is PRICELESS!

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” –Michael Jordan

Embrace your failures, they say you learn more from failures than success.

“The man who will use his skill and constructive imagination to see how much he can give for a dollar, instead of how little he can give for a dollar, is bound to succeed.” – Henry Ford

This quote really hits home for me. I’ve always tried to be as resourceful as possible in life. Like they say, trying to make lemonade out of whatever is in my reach. Being creative is one of the best traits that one can harness and put to use in their life.

I’ve never expected much from anyone and have dedicated my life of finding my own way and making my own destiny. But not without inspiring others to do the same for themselves!

We are substantially more powerful than we imagine and if we capitalize on our strengths, we will change the world!

Share this quote if you go after the world in a similar way.
